Lisa Wiser is a visual artist living and working in Lake Oswego, Oregon. She draws inspiration from the scenic northwest, travel adventures and reading novels. She has worked in watercolor, mixed media, acrylic and oil. Also an avid photographer, she chronicles her visual inspirations as she records obscure landscapes, architectural details, and other intriguing painting subjects.

“I suspect long hours in the back seat of the family station wagon was a big influence. I found the landscape between Portland, Idaho and Central Oregon mesmerizing. The regular journeys planted horizon lines, tree forms, open fields dotted with fences and barns topped with luminous clouds in my mind.”

Lisa prefers the direct association of working from life both in the studio and outdoors in the field .  Her award winning representational work is characterized by vivid color, great depth of space and attention to detail. She credits her father for instilling a love of drawing and painting while teaching her to draw at a young age.

Lisa earned a BS Degree in Art Education from the University of Oregon in 1978 and has completed graduate coursework in graphic design, art education and painting. Photographic travels around the globe have inspired her work for the past four decades. Local art workshops from well seasoned artists keeps her tool box of techniques fresh.

Lisa has been invited to serve in both curatorial and juror positions for various arts organizations in the area and has taught art from pre-school through adults.

She is an active member of Lake Area Artists and participates in the annual Lake Oswego Open Studios as well as one of the artists who capture the essence of novels during the annual Lake Oswego Reads celebration.

Aside from painting Lisa enjoys hiking, reading, family time, travel, puttering around the house and yard, and the challenge of fixing things.
